STUDIO REQUIREMENTS

SAFETY FIRST

  • Be mindful of each other – watching and helping others will improve your skills

  • Have and understand your plan for when you are on the apparatus – ask questions from the ground, not from the air

  • Appropriate safety procedures, including use of crash pads and spotting are followed and instructors will intervene if students attempt particular moves that require it.

  • Aerial apparatuses are fun but can be dangerous. Any activity that involves rotation and height can result in serious injury, paralysis and even death. Listen to the instructor and “know your limits and play within them”.

IMPORTANT: Safety is our #1 priority. Students MUST follow rules or they will be asked to leave class.

THE BASICS

  • Each class will have a 15 minute warm up. If a student arrives after the warm up, the instructor may ask the student to observe only and not participate. If you arrive late without prior notice you will not be able to make up the class.

  • Bring a notebook and be ready to take notes.

  • Missed classes and workshops without prior notice and approval will not be able to be made up. Please email danielle@etherealrebels.com in advance if you need to cancel a class due to injury or other circumstance. If you miss a class due to injury and are ready to return, you will be required to bring a doctor’s note on letterhead to participate.

  • Please observe good personal hygiene. Since we are sharing fabrics, please always wear deoderant and wipe perspiration with a towl.

  • No alcohol or drugs are allowed on the premises. If we suspect that you are under the influence of any drugs or alcohol you may be asked to leave without a refund.

WHat to wear

  • Clothes that are weather appropriate as climate control is limited. Please dress in layers with slip on shoes

  • Tops that are secure and can be tucked in

  • Pants/leggings and shorts that are not see through (check near crotch, this happens more than you think!)

  • Pants/leggings with a secure waist

  • Shorts over tights/leggings (or compression shorts) are a compromise between coverage and modesty, ¾ length exercise pants/leggings are suitable.

WHat NOT to wear

  • No baggy clothing (it tangles easily)

  • No shorts without tights or leggings underneath

  • No zippers allowed

  • No jewelry allowed (permanent jewelry must be covered with band-aids)

  • No lotion

  • No long nails on fingers or toes

  • Avoid eating or drinking acidic liquids an hour prior to class

HYGIENE

It is common practice in aerial training to share apparatuses with others. We kindly ask that you make sure you are clean and use hygiene products. Fingernails and toenails should be kept trimmed to avoid injury. We strive to be a scent neutral facility so please take necessary measures including wearing of deoderant and avoidance of scented lotions/perfumes on the day of your session.

RESPECT INSTRUCTORS & CLASSMATES

  • No Student Coaching please. Students are not allowed under any circumstances to teach any movement, pose, sequence, or skill. This is skill-trading or skill-sharing, and is strictly prohibited.

  • If there’s a move you would like to review, please let the instructor know before class starts.

  • If you are unsure, even after instructions are given, let the instructor know before you go on the apparatus.

  • Check with the instructor before doing any move that is not part of the instructor’s plans

  • Inform your instructor, prior to the start of class, of any physical aliments or injuries (past and present).

  • Share the apparatus! This is a group class and everyone should have equal time on the apparatus. Take your turn but come down after you’ve done the move.
